If you “hop” the hardways (4, 6, 8, 10) then they also pay 30 to 1. I can see why you would want to bet a lot on a 12 or 2 because it pays 30 to 1. Hardways are called hardways because it’s harder to make a (3+3). The true hardways (6, 8, 4, 10,) are called that because there are soft versions of these numbers which are die combos that don’t land with double 2s, double 3s, double 4s, or double 5s on top.Įxample of a soft number (also called an easy number) is when the die makes a 6 either by (2+4) or (1+5). You don’t have to call it a hard 12 (2s are also not called a hardway) because there’s only one way to make it by both dice landing with the 6s on top (or 1s on top for snake-eyes/2s). That’s part of the horn bet: 2, 12, 3, 11 which is part of the greater prop bets (proposition), or all the bets in the middle of the table.
